Encountering the Wild

In December 2018 I was invited to participate in an exhibition curated by Simon Hearn for the newly established Wild Mountain Collective. The setting was magnificent: Henryk Topolnicki’s striking A-frame gallery overlooking the Wild Dog Mountains, and the content full of artwork inspired by our good fortune to live within this wild area of Australia. Natural materials and bold sculptural works abounded with much reference to animals and plants. I submitted three Banksia lights .Archeologist Wayne Brennan gave a gripping talk on the richness of the archeology in this area and drew from his deep knowledge of Indigenous culture and practices of reading and using the land.It will be interesting to watch what Wild Mountain Collective evolves into.
